Rider Talent Academy success at the FEI Pony European Championships

It was a tremendous week, culminating yesterday 3 August, for The Howden Way Talent Academy riders when they secured Team Silver as part of the British Eventing team contesting the FEI Pony European Championships at Le Mans, France.

Annabel Ridgway with Akim de L’arquerie,  Arabella Hendon with Our Billy Eile, Florence Drewitt with Battlestown Delight represented us outstandingly alongside fellow team rider Cleo Whitbread with Night Fury to secure Team Silver for Great Britain.

Under the guidance of British Eventing Chef d’Equipe Camille Kruger, the team all delivered impressive performances to secure their place on the podium ahead of Germany who took Bronze position whilst home nation France secured Gold.  Both Annabel and Arabella produced double clears to finish on their dressage scores with Annabel’s dressage score of 28 being enough to also secure her an Individual Bronze.

Joining them was also fellow academy rider Maisie Greening with Kilnaspic Lily who finished in overall 17th place individually.

Chef d’equipe Camilla said of the teams performance “Huge congratulations to the British Pony Team on a fantastic performance at the European Championships. Their hard work, talent and team spirit have made the nation proud.”

Justine Parker, Programme Director for The Howden Way said “We are so incredibly proud of their achievements in Le Mans and their medal haul stands testament to their talent.  It has been an absolute honour working with the academy riders through the season so far and we are all at The Howden Way delighted to be extending our congratulations on their success”.

The Howden Way would like to thank their programme partners Dodson & Horrell, Enduro Equine and Unibed Bedding for their support of the rider talent academy in addition to the young horse academy and thoroughbred aftercare programme.
