Young Horse Academy

About young horse academy

The Howden Way Young Horse Academy delivers a pathway programme giving valuable support to the development and recognition of young horses competing within the British Eventing framework.

Horses identified at the Cornbury  House Young Horse Championships are invited to Development Days and, if selected, invited to join the academy for the following year which will include training with top level coaches.

The programme also includes expert support and advice from vets, farriers and nutritionists as well as bespoke training and support.

Proven success and further support

Proven success and further support

The academy has a proven record in terms of seeing real progression of the horse and rider combinations with many going on to deliver tremendous double clear performances throughout the season in addition to having representation at the World Young Horse Championships at Le Lion.

In addition to top level training and support The Howden Way further support the development of young event horses by investing into British Eventing Young Horse 6 and 7 year-old classes by offering enhanced prize fund. This allows for riders and owners to run their young horses in specific age-group sections offering the opportunity to benchmark horses against others of the same age and in turn giving them recognition.   The Howden Way also funds the Young Horse Leagues, powered by Equiratings, which take the average of the three best finishing scores at their respective level.
